The BYOU program at Helping Hands offers Black youth aged 13-18 in the Peel Region a unique opportunity to grow and thrive in various aspects of their lives. From comprehensive support in mental health and education to fostering physical wellness, community engagement, and career readiness, BYOU is designed to empower youth with essential skills and resources. Participants can connect in a safe space within a relaxing environment, where they are supported to build resilience, explore their potential, and contribute meaningfully to their community. Mental Health Program:
Maintaining proper mental health is essential for navigating challenges and achieving overall well-being. At Helping Hands, we recognize the importance of supporting youth in this journey through our BYOU program. We are dedicated to providing you with a safe space where you can explore and prioritize your mental health. We will be offering various mental health and wellness workshops and programs to support you! We aim to foster a supportive community where you will feel valued, understood, and equipped with the tools to navigate through life's challenges with resilience and compassion.

Educational Program:
The BYOU program is here to support Black youth through their educational journey. Helping Hands understands the importance of youth succeeding in academia. From time management strategies, tutoring, to exploring post-secondary options, we aim to empower Black youth to reach their full potential! This subprogram will encompass mentorship, access to educational tools, navigation towards plans after high school, and fostering an environment where every youth can flourish. We're not just addressing immediate academic needs, but we are also nurturing future leaders and changemakers.

Health Program:
Helping Hands is committed to ensuring the optimal health and wellness of Black youth in the Peel Region. Our Health program is here to support youth in feeling their overall best self. The program will incorporate physical activity, ensuring youth feel revitalized. The program will also have exciting outdoor activities such as friendly sport tournaments and attending local games. The Health program aims to equip youth with resilience and vitality to thrive in every aspect of life.

Volunteering / Positive Interactions:
Through the positive interactions subprogram, Helping Hands will be empowering Black youth through meaningful interactions and valuable volunteer experiences. Youth will have the opportunity to engage with their community in impactful ways, fostering personal growth and contributing to positive change. By creating connections with diverse groups and providing hands-on volunteer opportunities, the BYOU program aims to create a sense of purpose and community among Black youth.

Employment:
The BYOU program will equip Black youth with the tools they need to succeed in the workforce. This program will offer a range of workshops, events, and resources focused on building essential skills for employment, including resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies. Helping Hands will ensure that Black youth have the resources they need to navigate their career journey and secure meaningful employment opportunities.

This program is a crucial step towards addressing systemic inequalities and ensuring equitable opportunities for Black youth.
